Senior Product Designer

About Ferocia

You may (or may not) know us as the team behind Up (up.com.au), Australia’s most loved digital bank. Ferocia began as a small technology organisation, and is now proudly part of the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Group (acquired in 2021). Meaning that Ferocia hits that sweet spot of having a small company rhythm, with a large company reach and resources.

Our Mission

We are proud that the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Group is carbon neutral, community minded, , and committed to high standards of corporate governance. Operating under that umbrella allows Ferocia to better pursue its mission: financial empowerment through technology.

Banking is an essential service for all. We believe that through innovation and empathy we can take Australians from a place where money is a cause of stress and anxiety, to a happier place where they feel empowered and in control of their finances. If that sounds like something that you want to help work towards, we would love to hear from you.

The role

This is a rare opportunity to join a small but growing team. We’re looking for a passionate Senior Product Designer to join us; working on a new exciting initiative for Bendigo Bank, one of Australia’s most trusted brands.

You’ll be helping us carve the path forward in building a well designed digital experience. You may need to wear many hats and will be given the opportunity to own projects from start to finish — from idea to successfully shipped.

So on a normal day, you could be:

  • Working closely with our in-house Product Designers and Engineers to refine existing concepts, fix bugs and explore whole new ideas an opportunities to bring to a banking experience.
  • Designing solutions that are simple yet powerful — with a key focus on accessibility, ensuring everyone feels at home with our tech.
  • Collaborating with our Engineers to slice concepts up to incrementally deliver them in a way that makes sense and works well for our users.
  • Extending our Design System to cater for a Web experience as well as a mobile app.

What we're looking for

  • Experience — you’ve been designing for and delivering end to end projects from idea to launch for around 3 years. Ideally but not essential, you’ve worked on a SaaS or consumer product (even better if it's in Fin-Tech), or within a digital agency.
  • Creativity and craftsmanship — solid interaction and visual skills, with a keen eye for detail to achieve visually pleasing aesthetics; from tiny micro-interactions, to complex multi-step experiences.
  • Passion — harder to define, but we're looking for people with a desire to push the limits, break the status quo and to be at the forefront of technology. An eagerness to learn, expand your skills, and do the best work possible is essential.
  • Independence — An ability to work autonomously and with a certain level of ambiguity. You’re proactive without waiting for direction from others. You like to "get shit done" but still know when to ask for help. You can identify opportunities on your own, and bring them to your team.
  • Web/mobile domain knowledge — a strong understanding of patterns and interactions, as well as understanding the differences and opportunities between mobile apps and desktop web experiences.

We take diversity and inclusivity seriously — No matter who you are, who you love, or what you stand for, we just want you to be yourself.

If you think you have what it takes, but don't necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch. We'd love to have a chat and see if you could be a great fit.
