Not with Up. We’ve made opening a new account easy and instant. You can open a new account using your smartphone in less than 3 minutes.

Anyone with an Australian phone number can join Up, so long as you're over 16, have a current Australian address and have a current Australian passport, drivers licence, or Medicare card. Most people only need one form of ID, and you simply download Up from the App Store or Google Play and follow the prompts.
