Make bills background noise

If you were an Up High member over the past year, there's a good chance you've come across Essentials. If you've used it, you'll soon notice a few things are a little different.

If you haven't, you'll get the chance very soon.

When Essentials was first introduced through Up High, the idea was to create a dedicated space for bills. A place where bill money could live separately from spending money, with tools and automations to help you stay ahead of recurring expenses.

While the Up High chapter has now come to a close, the time Essentials spent there taught us a lot. We listened to the people who made it part of their everyday lives and learned from the different ways they used it.

Now, a better Essentials is coming.

Thanks to everyone who shared feedback, ideas and experiences along the way.

It's still the dedicated home for bills. It's just a lot less interested in making you think about them.

Get ready for 1 September

You might already be good to go. If not, here’s how to get set for launch day.

Essentials uses your Pay Day and Regulars to work out how much to put aside for bills. Get both sorted now and you’ll be ready when it arrives.

Set up Pay Day

Head to Upcoming from your Activity feed, then tell us which payment is your pay, when it arrives and how often you’re paid. Essentials uses this to work out how much to set aside each pay.

Mark your bills as Regulars

Press and hold a recurring transaction in your Activity feed, then tap Create Regular. When Essentials arrives, you can move your Regulars across in one tap or pick and choose.

Just remember to update your payment details with each provider using your new Essentials card or account details. Moving a Regular in the Up app won’t update them automatically.

That’s it. Your bills are officially on notice.
